PLSL /Returns
Quarter ending 30 Sep 2026 · NSW due 14 Oct
Portable long service leave returns are due every quarter, per worker, with a levy on ordinary wages. Xero doesn’t produce one. So you export three reports, collate them in Excel, work out which pay items count, match every worker to the portal’s list, and hope.
Upload the export you already have. Everything runs in your browser.
What it does
Below is a real return computed by the engine as it stands today, from a four-worker quarter. Every figure is produced by code, not typed into this page — and the same quarter gives two different answers depending on which state you’re in.
| Worker | Basis | Ordinary wages |
|---|---|---|
| Osei, A | Ordinary, penalties, annual leave, sleepover | 18,004.00 |
| Nguyen, B | Ordinary, casual loading, Sunday penalty | 7,712.00 |
| Lombardi, C | Ordinary, personal leave — terminated 14 Aug | 9,628.00 |
| Patel, D | Ordinary, casual loading — 2 days worked | 600.00 |
| Levy payable — 1.70% of 35,944.00 | $611.05 | |
| Worker | Difference from NSW | Ordinary wages |
|---|---|---|
| Osei, A | Travel allowance included in Qld, excluded in NSW | 18,069.00 |
| Nguyen, B | Meal allowance included in Qld, excluded in NSW | 7,776.50 |
| Lombardi, C | No difference — termination pay excluded by both | 9,628.00 |
| Patel, D | Held out — under Qld’s 5-days-in-quarter threshold | — |
| Levy payable — 1.35% of 35,473.50 | $478.89 | |
Computed from fixtures/ by 67 assertions in check/. Synthetic payroll data, real scheme rules.
Annual leave loading is typed as ordinary earnings in Xero. Classify on the type alone and you overstate the wages and overpay the levy, every quarter, quietly.
A pay item the rules don’t cover is held for your decision. It is never silently included and never silently dropped.
Someone on your payroll who isn’t registered with the scheme, or registered but not paid this quarter, comes back on a list — not lost.
Override a rule once. Next quarter starts where you left it.
Build state — honest version
Nothing here is for sale yet. The calculation engine is built and checked. The piece that writes each portal’s spreadsheet is waiting on blank templates, requested from all three schemes on 16 September 2026 — the portals reject files whose format has changed, so that part is being built last, against the real thing.
